Before downloading Vesper flight logs, users need to enable flight telemetry and SD card logging. Please refer to How to enable Vesper telemetry and SD Card logging.
Downloading and extracting Vesper flight logs is a multi-step process, the first step involves downloading the logs to the GCS from Vesper. The second part involves moving or copying the logs to removable media so that they can then be viewed and shared via a computer.
Part I - Download Vesper Logs
1. Power on Vesper
2. Power on Vision GCS
3. Log into Vision GCS
4. Wait for Vision and Vesper to connect
5. Rapidly/repeatedly tap the “Q” button on the top left of the Vision GCS screen until you see an “Analyze” menu option appear below “Plan”
6. Tap “Analyze”
7. Tap “Tap “Log Download”
8. Tap “Refresh” on the right side of the screen
9. A screen should appear that shows a list of logs
10. Select the log(s) you would like to download by tapping on them in the list
11. Tap “Download” on the right side of the screen
12. Downloading can take a while so be patient.
Part II - Extract Vesper Logs to Removable Media
Once your logs have been downloaded to a Vision GCS, the log files will need to be transferred to a removable drive so that they can be viewed and or shared via a computer. To transfer the log files a USB-A thumb drive along with a USB- to Type-C adapter will be required.
- Power on Vision GCS
- Log into Vision GCS
- Insert the USB-A thumb drive into a USB- to Type-C adapter
- Insert the Type-C adapter with the thumb drive in the USB-C port on the bottom of the Vision GCS
- Tap the top of the screen near "Waiting for a vehicle" 2x in rapid succession to minimize the QGC software window
- Notice that the thumb drive is now shown on the left side of the screen
- Tap the folder icon on the left side of the screen to open the files directory
- Navigate to the "Downloads" folder or the folder where the log(s) was saved logs will have a ".ulg" extension
- Tap and hold the log icon to open a menu
- Select "Copy to..."
- Select the thumb drive
- Tap "Select" on the top right of the screen and wait for the process to complete
- Tap the thumb drive on the left side of the screen and select "eject"
- Remove the thumb drive from the GCS and insert it into a computer in order to access the log(s)
