Vesper Battery Update Instructions
Vesper Batteries have firmware installed that enables the battery to properly charge and discharge for the best battery life and performance. The version of the battery firmware is checked by Vesper during the boot-up process. If Vesper determines that a battery requires an update, Vesper will automatically initiate a battery update.
Updating a Vesper battery's firmware is automatically initiated after an updated Vesper checks the battery firmware version and determines there is a need for an update. If this occurs Vesper will automatically start the battery update process. Please refer to Vesper Software Update: Installation Instructions for details about updating a Vesper UAV.
The update process is quick and easy. Users that have recently updated to Vesper V1.9.8 or above will likely experience battery updates. This involves attaching the Vesper battery to the Vesper fuselage. As the Vesper boot process begins, if a battery update is necessary, the Vesper fuselage will "click" (dit, dit, dit) for approximately 20 seconds, then Vesper will go quiet, followed by the normal boot-up trill. If you only have one battery, all is done. If you have more batteries that may need updating, just attach them to the fuselage and let Vesper check and run the update as needed.
- Charge Vesper battery to at least 50% charge
- Update a Vesper Fuselage to v1.9.8 or higher
- Attach a Vesper battery to the updated Vesper fuselage
- The fuselage will produce a clicking sound (dit, dit, dit) for up to 20 seconds indicating that the battery is being updated after the powers-up
- When the clicking sound stops the battery has been updated and Vesper will continue to boot as normal
-
Repeat this process for any additional batteries that you may have
Note: If an attached battery never forces Vesper to "click" and Vesper just continues to boot as expected, then this battery did not require an update.
